A Holiday Throwback To The Coolest Cars Of The Past Five Years
In the grand tradition of #tbt – or “Throwback Thursday” to the layman – and because there’s nothing like a good year-end list, we’re looking back at the coolest cars to grace our dealership in the last five years. Whether we’ve leased or sold them, we’ve seen a lot of cars come through AUTO ONE Group and each has been impressive in its own right; but there have been a special few that have stuck out as being just a little more impressive than the rest. Many of these cars we sell used, at very reasonable prices, so you can relive the best of the last half-decade easily by talking to one of our experienced representatives.
Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
In 2015, Dodge put out a version of its 1958 classic car that featured a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI engine and boasted a quarter mile time of 10.85 seconds. This is pure American muscle, and its 2016 and 2017 versions were just as rip-roaringly fun to drive. If you want to see the specs and comments on our very own 2016 version of this car, check out our collection of used cars and scroll down until you see that unmistakable Dodge grille.
BMW M2
It’s no wonder this car ranks as Car and Driver’s number one entry-luxury compact, beating out even the fabulous Audi A3 and S3 – this luxury compact coupe offers 365 horsepower (a horsepower for every day of the year?) and pristine handling. So popular it was even added to the Need For Speed video game, the BMW M2 was an instant classic that continues to wow.
Slick and sexy, this mid-size luxury 4-door coupe launched its second generation a little over five years ago, and has been steadily improving upon it ever since. With a turbocharged V-8 reaching 100km/hr. in just 6.5 seconds, the Mercedes-Benz CLS Class didn’t even need to look good. Oh, but it does; it looks very good.
Audi Q7
The second generation Audi Q7 – both the traditional fuel version and the plug-in hybrid variant – was released in 2015 to great acclaim. This car is perfect for a family because of its spaciousness and safety, having received the Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the highest safety rating available. It also takes the top spot on the list of Car and Driver’s best three-row luxury crossovers, so you know, not only is it safe, it’s also just a ridiculously well-made car.
Ferrari 458 Spider
Ok, let’s kick it into high gear here. This thing is speed incarnate, with a 562 horsepower V-8 featuring direct fuel injection, and a dual-clutch 7-speed Getrag transmission. Pair that with a beautiful interior and razor-sharp design, and you have the quintessential Italian sports car.
Tesla Model X
Unveiled in 2012 but not hitting the ground in any meaningful way until 2016 (its manufacturing was not without a few hiccups) this full-sized, all-electric luxury crossover was a complete and total game-changer, so to leave it off any list of the past five years would just be wrong. The only car here running on a lithium-ion battery pack, the Tesla Model X nevertheless does an impressive 0-60 mph of 2.9 seconds! That’s better than most sports cars.
If you’re on lookout for a used car like one of these, we at AUTO ONE Group have an enviable inventory of used cars from which to choose. If you have your heart set on 2018, though, you can learn about our car leasing options from one of our representatives, or just ask us through the website any questions you might have. The last five years have been a blast for drivers – here’s to the next five!
